Transformation Weekend
This event honors the vision of Martin Luther King for building the Beloved Community on principles of non-violence and cooperative friendship, with the objective of reconciliation.
King envisioned the Beloved Community as a society based on justice, equal opportunity, and love of one’s fellow human beings. Racism and all forms of discrimination, bigotry and prejudice will be replaced by an all-inclusive spirit of sisterhood and brotherhood.
Believing that to become this community, education plays a central role, Leadership Academy hosts Transformation Weekend to honor and empower the school’s student voice!
The students will be building a transportable ‘covered bridge’ that will be temporarily installed in Morton’s entry hall. Called “A Bridge to Tomorrow” it will represent the transition between where we’ve been and where they envision we’ll go as a human race. They’ll creatively express the values and principles they’ve determined are essential to be a people of purpose, peace and prosperity!
